A hilltop village above the fen
Haddenham stands on genuinely higher ground, a ridge of the Isle of Ely southwest of Ely itself, and that single fact shapes almost every rooflight and skylight job we plan here. Haddenham Great Mill, the windmill that still stands over the village, sits where it does for the same reason a farmer would choose the spot: it is one of the highest points around, with nothing to slow the wind before it arrives.
Book a light surveyMost of the villages we work in in East Cambridgeshire sit at or near fen level, with the black peat running flat to the horizon on every side. Haddenham is different. The ground rises enough that the village looks down on the fen rather than sitting in it, and a roof up here meets weather that has already crossed miles of open ground and then climbed with the hill, rather than weather that arrives across flat land at roof height. That distinction carries through everything below: the same wide Fenland sky that reaches every roof for miles around, met by wind that behaves differently once the ground itself is standing above it. Before we quote for anything, we work out how that height changes the slope in front of us, and how Vision Skylights plans a rooflight or skylight for any home around Cambridge explains the same thinking applied more broadly.
